Last weekend, my DH came in the house and asked me, “You wanna see something funny?”
So as I was drinking my morning coffee and catching up on the knitting forum posts and blogs that I frequently visit, I said, “Not really…”
But he persisted, “Oh come on! You’ve gotta see this!”
I knew there was no way that he was going to leave me alone, so I succumbed. At times like these, I usually need my camera, so I grabbed that on the way out. I followed him outside, around the trees to the side of our shed where there is a pile of old lumber and he pointed. I looked at the spot he was pointing at, but didn’t see anything unusual. There was just an old birdnest lying crooked on the lumber pile, but it had been there for quite some time. So I said, “What? I don’t see anything funny.”
He said, “Look in the birdnest.”
So I carefully slipped between the wild rosebush (that is extremely thorny and could scratch my bare legs) and the Austrian pine tree (that has extremely stiff, pointy needles that actually did injure my eye last year) and peeked in the birdnest, fully expecting something to jump out at me. Instead, I found a new species of bird! I’m glad I had my camera with me!
