If you’ve never been to Yarns & Co. in Easton, Maryland, you should go… especially if you knit or crochet! This is a fabulous yarn shop with a very large selection — I highly recommend this place. There was so much to look at when we went (just yesterday!) that I don’t think I saw it all. Everywhere I looked, there was some beautiful yarn on display, and a lot of it! I finally made a couple of selections though. Here are my new yarns in all their colorful, soft, yummy glory:
The two balls up front are Artful Yarns Heroes, the large hank in back of those is Skacel Sofa and the small hank lying on top of that is Prism Yarns 1/2″ Sparkle Ribbon that my sister gave me for Christmas.
The Skacel Sofa is going to become a long, plush scarf, just like the one they had on display in the store (only theirs was a red chenille instead of a navy, but gorgeous all the same). For this scarf, you cast on 8 stitches on size 17 straight needles, and knit every row, which is the garter stitch. Here’s the start of it:
Those balls of Artful Yarns Heroes will be double-stranded with the Prism 1/2″ Sparkle Ribbon to make a very fancy, out-on-the-town, colorful, sparkly scarf. I can just picture this accessorizing a black outfit on some lady in a high-energy atmosphere. Since my sister gave me the sparkle ribbon, maybe I’ll surprise her with this very item…
