This is my next project, a hopefully “done-in-time-for-Christmas” gift for my husband’s grandmother (or Granny, as we like to call her!) who taught me to knit about a year ago. I have a total of one wave done, which is about 7 1/2″ of scarf. I ONLY have to make it about 5 feet long! Will I get it done in time? Only God knows!
Click here to get the pattern, although when I made the pattern with the link’s directions, it didn’t look right to me (like there was a speed bump around rows 31-33). I ended up frogging everything I had done, maybe 10″ of knitting, and then I revised the pattern to suit my liking. (If you’re reading this and want my directions, just ask.) This scarf is being made with the softest, most purple yarn I could find at Walmart, Bernat’s Softee Chunky (100% acrylic) in “Too Purple”, which I found out is a discontinued color, but it’s still at Walmart…. for now. I’m using size 10 bamboo knitting needles (from Michael’s) and a row counter that slides on the end of your needle.
